ALEXIS STICKLAND
Hello and welcome to Resolve: Birth Trauma Therapies. I’m so pleased you have found us.
I have been a registered Midwife since 2007 and over the years I have worked in both the NHS and independent practice as a case-loading midwife and more recently, a holistic midwife, supporting clients with both spoken and hands on therapies and treatments.
Having worked with pregnant, birthing and postnatal people, and their families for many years (almost two decades) I have found BTR therapy an invaluable asset to my skill set, as it offers such a powerful and holistic approach, often with a profound and life changing outcome for clients who have experienced birth or perinatal trauma.
HOW CAN I HELP YOU?
Through the use of Birth Trauma Resolution (BTR) therapy, we can work together to release the unwanted emotional charge that may be remaining and causing you distress following a traumatic perinatal or birth experience, and leave you with the tools and knowledge that will help you rebuild an emotionally healthy and fulfilling life.
MY BACKGROUND
I moved to Brighton with my own young family in 2015, and alongside BTR I offer reflexology, aromatherapy massage and birth preparation sessions. I also write, including co-authoring two Penguin published books, ‘The Little Book of Self-Care For New Mums’ and ‘The Little Book of Self-Care for Mums To Be’ with Beccy Hands.
I look forward to working with you.
GEMMA STAPLETON
MY BACKGROUND
I live in Sussex with my husband, two young children, cat and dog. I was a midwife for over 20 years working within the NHS. My career as a midwife gave me the wonderful opportunity of working with people and their families from all different backgrounds, whilst supporting them through their birth journeys. For the majority of my career I worked at major London hospitals, including St Thomas’ where I met Alexis. Together with our team, we supported pregnant teenagers and their families through their pregnancies and it really was the most rewarding and fun part of my career.
WHY I HAVE CHOSEN BTR THERAPIES
Becoming a mother highlighted the highs and lows that parents face through their parenting journey. Having a break from midwifery to support my young family, allowed me to consider the path I wanted to take. It always returned to supporting birthing people and their families during one of the most important events in their lives. Finding Birth Trauma Resolution has allowed me to do this, providing a safe space and enough time to offer the support these families need and deserve. During my time away from midwifery I also found a love for holistic therapies, both experiencing them and of course training in them. I gained a Diploma accredited by the Guild of Beauty Therapists in Reflexology, shortly followed by training in Swedish massage, aromatherapy massage and pregnancy massage.
